Negotiation and Implementation
The Department of Aboriginal Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations leads the GNWT’s participation in land, resource and self-government negotiations and coordinating the implementation of final agreements, as well as treaty land entitlement negotiations that are active within the Northwest Territories. It is responsible for representing the interests of the Government of the Northwest Territories at each table, as well as the interests of all NWT residents.
There are a number of active negotiation tables in the Northwest Territories. Each is at a different stage of progress.
